Another environmental issue in Centre County- is suddenly changing. The developers of a landfill targeted for the western part of the County- are downsizing their plans- saying they've decided to limit the project to only one Township. And for the numerous landfill opponents in Snow Shoe Township -- this is a victory.

The news comes in a letter to the Snow Shoe Supervisors. Resource Recovery, the landfill developers, are scaling back- and deciding not to develop in Snow Shoe Township. It comes after heated meetings, the opposition making their points repeatedly. The landfill company president terms what happend in Snow Shoe a mob scene- hysterical people with wild stories and half truths. What's next for the project itself remains a question..its gotten preliminary approval in neighboring Rush Township.

Resource Recovery President Ed Abel says "I am sorry that wild, unsubstantiated stories will deny the people of Snow Shoe Township the opportunity for this economic development project."
