Latest In Cummings Murder Investigation

Cambria County —

According to police records, Deborah Cummings had been planning to murder her husband, Chuck Cummings, for the last six months. Police say she approached two different people about killing Chuck, including her son.

The police report goes on to say Chuck and Shawn did not get along. Chuck had thrown him out of the house asking him not to come back. Police learned that six months ago Deborah asked another man a number of times to kill Chuck. There is no indication of how the two knew each other.

Sweeney told police the morning of the murder Deborah contacted him encouraging him to kill Chuck, telling him where to get his sister's gun and to wait for Chuck at the Portage Club to kill him. The police report says Sweeney confessed to killing Chuck and hiding the gun. Chuck was shot four times in the shoulder, back, chest, and throat. Bullet casings were found on the lot that morning. The question still remains why Deborah wanted Chuck dead.

Former Cambria County District Attorney, Dave Tulowitzki, said, "At this time, we feel it would jeopardize our investigation. We're still interviewing people. We're still putting all the pieces together so it serves no purpose for the prosecution at this point."

Ned Moore was a friend of Chuck's. He says, "I thought they had a good relationship. They may have had arguments, nothing serious. Nothing to indicate this would happen."

Next up for Deborah Cummings and Shawn Sweeney will be an appearance before a judge on Wednesday.
