The treatment plant is on the outskirts of Carrolltown, in East Carroll Township. Emergency crews responded to the Borough's water treatment plant shortly before 3:00 Wednesday afternoon. As many as twenty homes in the area were evacuated, mainly those the live downwind from the plant. Haz-mat crews in contamination suits cleared the scene, with no incident. However, roads near the plant were restricted to drivers for some time.
