Lee Regional Files Lawsuit Against U.P.M.C.

Johnstown —

According to Lee Regional Health System officials, the lawsuit seeks damages for U.P.M.C. breaking it's contract with them. Lee Regional officials don't believe U.P.M.C. has given an accurate accounting of the money it's put into the hospital. That amount is what Lee Regional owes for the hospital. But Conemaugh Health System has also put in a bid for Lee.

Michael Sahlaney is the Attorney for Lee Regional Health System. He tells Channel 6 News, "If that amount is more than U.P.M.C. put into the Lee System, that would be millions that are going from Johnstown, where those assets could be applied to medical care and services right here. And those assets are going to Pittsburgh."

This lawsuit is expected to be in the millions. Lee Regional officials are also asking the judge to stop the sale of Lee Regional to Conemaugh.
