HARRISBURG, Pa. —
The board said Thursday it would not increase the fees or approve any price increases proposed by distilleries and wineries for the next six months.
Gov.-elect Tom Corbett had sharply criticized the timing of the increase on Jan. 4 -- two weeks before he takes office. His spokesman, Kevin Harley, praised the board's decision and called it a victory for consumers.
Officials said the fee increases, which vendors could absorb or pass onto consumers, varied from 15 cents for a 50-milliliter bottle of liquor to $1.15 for a three-liter bottle of wine.
