JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —
With all the media attention surrounding the case, Sandusky's attorney has said it will be difficult to get a fair trial. Some have also questioned why Sandusky was allowed to speak to reporters. That includes local defense attorneys.
In the court of public opinion many already feel Jerry Sandusky is guilty. But the former Penn State coach said he would never hurt a child and called his actions nothing but horseplay.
"I wanted people to hear Jerry Sandusky say I didn't do these things," said his attorney, Joe Amendola. "He's not an articulate person."
Bob Gleason has been a defense attorney in Cambria Country for decades. He's very familiar with the law and these types of cases. He said he doesn't think the law should be treated like a reality show.
"It's not entertainment, it's law and I wouldn't permit my clients to make a public announcement before a trial," said Gleason. "Any statement made can be used against him in a subsequent trial."
The two latest victims presented by the grand jury claim they yelled upstairs for help from Dottie Sandusky. Many people have already started speculating that she'll be drug into this case with her husband, but Gleason said there is no proof she was in the home or aware of any wrong doing.
"That means anyone in the house would have a responsibility that's adult including any of his other children if he would prove that they were there," said Gleason. "That's a very easy allegation to make but a very difficult one to prove."
