Local Cemetery Brings 'Wreaths Across America'

By Brittany Boyer

DuBOIS, Pa. —

Wreaths Across America is a nationwide ceremony that honors fallen soldiers.

It is most well known for the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery where thousands of soldiers who have fought for our country are buried.

On Saturday a cemetery in Dubois will be taking part in the nationwide ceremony.

Paul Sprague, president of the Rumbarger Preservation Society said more than 600 cemeteries will be taking part in this ceremony across the country.

This year's theme is "The Christmas they never had."

Thanks to businesses and local residents Dubois will be holding its own ceremony. Sprague said 100 wreaths will be laid on stones of those who have fought for our country.

Sprague told 6 News he is happy that a ceremony like this can come to a small town like Dubois.

Sprague said the cemetery has a lot of history within. Beneath the ground lays soldiers from the Civil War and World War I.

According to the Wreaths Across America website Saturday serves as an important day. "Remembering our fallen hereos, honoring those who serve, and teaching our children about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedoms."

The ceremony will take place at the Rumbarger Cemetery in Dubois. It will begin at noon.
