Local Company Helps 'Thunder In The Valley' Go Green

A local construction company is helping "Thunder In The Valley" go green by collecting the vendors' left over cooking oil then making bio-diesel fuel to power its trucks.

Danchanko, Inc. has been collecting oil from local restaurants like the Fishbowl in Johnstown for about a year, but this is the first time they've collected at the annual motorcycle rally.

The company expects to collect around 50 gallons of oil at Thunder, and the conversion process takes about two to three days to complete.

Monday, the cost of diesel fuel was $2.64 a gallon, while the cost of bio-diesel was 99 cents, about $1.64 in savings.

"It's been helping me stay more competitive in my market as far as ruing on fuel and also it's win-win for everyone. It helps the environment," said Matthew Danchanko.

The company is also selling T-shirts that say "Got Grease?" The shirts are two for $20 and all processed go to helping Thunder with efforts to be environmentally friendly.
