Local Company Keeps Graduates In The Area

How do you keep students who graduate from leaving our area to get their jobs elsewhere? Johnstown area regional industries Brain Gain Campaign is trying to do just that. College students are given internships in the information technology field, which shows them what jobs are available in Johnstown. Those internships can also turn into jobs for these students. This year there is good news! There are twice the number of interns involved in the program from last year. That number being 19. A student intern commits 150 hours to a participating company and the students earns about 12-hundred dollars for their work. These internships are funded by the Commonwealth Of Pennsylvania through a grant awarded to Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission. Then Jari administers the program. The goal of Jari's Brain Gain is to keep young adults and their energy in our area.
