Local Dealerships Announce Merger

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. —

WJAC-TV News has learned Thomas Honda of Windber, Somerset County and Team Chevrolet of Johnstown, Cambria County are merging their dealership operations to form a new dealership, Thomas Team Honda.

This means the Thomas dealership will move from Windber to Team's Bedford Street location.

The current dealership on Bedford Street in Johnstown will undergo a minor renovation to accommodate the new Honda brand.

The change could be good news for those looking for work. Once the merger takes place after the new year, it's expected to create a 10 to 20 percent increase in employment over the next two years.

New Chevy's will no longer be sold at the Bedford Street location because they are all being moved to the Team in Huntingdon County. However, officials told WJAC, that people can still schedule service for their GM cars in Johnstown. They are keeping all technicians on staff.

As for Thomas Honda, it's not clear what will become of the Windber facility. Officials said the change will give them better exposure to customers from around the area.
