Local Deputies Receive State Award

EBENSBURG, Pa. —

Deputies who assisted in capturing a bank robbery suspect are receiving the Outstanding Citizenship Award.

Deputy Vince Arcurio and Deputy Jacob Kehn are being honored after they stepped in to make an arrest while maintaining the safety of the public in the area.

Pennsylvania State Police were looking for the suspect, and Kehn and Arcurio thought they spotted the man at a local Sheetz store, so they took cautious measures to get him in custody.

"There was a lady pumping gas there that day and had they approached the subject and he had a gun, he could have taken someone hostage, a lot of things could have happened," Pennsylvania State Police Sgt. Willaim Bonin said.

Only 14 people have received this award statewide in 2007.
