Criminal Complaint Filed Against Bedford County District Attorney

BEDFORD COUNTY, Pa. —

A private criminal complaint has been filed against a Bedford County district attorney related to his admission of an extra-marital affair in his office.

William Higgins previously admitted he had an adulterous relationship, but said he has committed no crime.

A prosecutor from the state attorney general's office will be assigned the case, a spokesman with the office said.

Bedford County Commissioner Michael Herline said, as with any investigation, all of the facts must first be gathered.

"I don't even know if anything will be made public by the attorney general's office until they've found any evidence, or lack thereof," Herline said.

In response to the criminal complaint, Higgins issued a statement saying, "With regard to the allegations, they are completely untrue and sadly appear to be both personally and politically motivated."
