Local high school plays hockey game for student

By Kerri Corrado

JOHNSTOWN, PA. —

The Ferndale High School student body held an annual fundraiser to raise money for Jessica Ambroe.

Ferndale High School played Conemaugh Valley in a hockey game. This game was called the Jessica Ambroe Classic.

All of the proceeds and donations will be sent to Chelsea’s Hope, a non-profit organization to help research Lafora disease.

“One day Jess or other like her are going to be able to regain their lives,” Michele Ambroe said.

Lafora is a rare, neurological disease in which Jessica is suffering with. Her dad says the chance of getting it, is one in a million.

“It really feels good to be a part of Ferndale and knowing that they are doing this for my sister,” Jillian Ambroe said.
