Amish store worker fights off robbers

AARONSBURG, Pa. —

A brazen robbery attempt has plenty of people talking in Centre County.

 This time the victims fought back.

 According to State Police, 20 year-old Brittany Wingard of Aaronsburg and a 16 year old boy stormed into the Speicher Food Store.

 The Amish store is a staple in the quiet Penns Valley community.

 Police say the would be robbers threatened employees with an assault weapon and demanded cash, but their plans were quickly foiled.

 Witnesses say the clerk grabbed the weapon and held off the attack while co-workers called 911.

 Wingard and the teenager fled from the store where police say two other teenagers were waiting in the getaway car.

 The four suspects were tracked down a short time later.

 Police tell 6 News the youngest teenager involved is just 14 years old.
