Locally-Made Baseball Bats Used In World Series

Baseball Bat Manufacturer In Reynoldsville Goes Major League.

Washington Twp., Jefferson County —

Move over, Louisville Slugger! Make way for the BWP-243. That's the bat model made by Brookville Wood Products and used by Boston Red Sox player Johnny Damon. Damon is using the bat in the World Series. Brookville Wood Products just got into the bat-making business a few years ago, and already supplies over a dozen major-league players and even more minor league players. On the day of our visit to BWP, six new bats were being finished and laser-engraved with Johnny Damon's name. They would be shipped off to St. Louis for use in the rest of the series. Michael Gregory of BWP Bats says because of a unique drying process, BWP Bats are known for being harder than most bats in the industry.
