SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. —

A preliminary hearing was continued on Thursday for a Somerset County man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend and burying her body along a hiking trail.

Jonathan Beal was scheduled to appear in court at 1 p.m. Thursday in front of Magisterial District Judge Douglas Bell.

Officials at Bell’s office said no new date for the hearing has been set.

Beal is accused of killing 19-year-old Justine Jackson in September. Investigators said he buried Jackson's body in a shallow grave along the Great Allegheny Passage near Meyersdale.

Police said Beal fled to Louisiana but was found there and extradited back to Pennsylvania earlier this month.
