Man Charged For Bilking Cash From Churchgoers

Bedford County —

John Elwood Snyder, of Bedford, has been charged with cheating churchgoers out of $27,500. He is currently being held at the Bedford County Jail. Police say Snyder allegedly went to churches around Bedford and asked people for investments to help him start a ministry or to help him get out of tax trouble so that he could collect millions of dollars of winnings from the Canadian Lottery. Police say he ran several schemes between February of 2001 and September of 2003.
