Man Drowns In Blair County

ALTOONA, Pa. —

The search for a man who may have run away from a local mental health facility ended tragically Monday morning.

Blair County officials said a man was seen running nude near the railroad tracks at the Juanita Shops around 5 a.m. When authorities found the man, he had drowned in waters just outside Tyrone.

Early unconfirmed reports indicated the man was a mental health patient who had escaped from a local hospital. Police believe he may have jumped onto a train before going into the water.

By noon, crews were still trying to remove the man's body, which was submerged 12 feet below the surface of the water.
