SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. —

An Ohio man entered a plea on Thursday to charges that he sexually assaulted a young girl about a decade ago.

Friday's Somerset Daily American reported that 57-year-old William Walters entered an Alford plea on Thursday in Somerset County Court just as his trial was set to begin.

An Alford plea means a defendant does not admit guilt, but admits that sufficient evidence exists with which the prosecution could likely convict the defendant.

Police said Walters was living in Somerset borough when he assaulted the girl between 2001 and 2004.
