CLEARFIELD, Pa. —
Andrew Callahan was convicted in 1998 of killing 16-year-old Micah Pollock. He was convicted again in 2007, but that conviction was thrown out after the Pennsylvania Superior Court ruled the jury was given improper instructions by a judge.
Officials said Callahan shot Pollock in the back over a dispute involving Callahan's ex-girlfriend. On Wednesday, Callahan took the stand and told jurors that Pollock's death was an accident. He said he tried to scare Pollock by pulling the trigger on what he thought was an unloaded gun.
A jury returned its guilty verdict just before noon Thursday, and Callahan was then sentenced to life in prison.
