Man gets probation for butchering prized cow, committing other crimes

SOMERSET, Pa. --

 

A Somerset County man who killed and butchered a prize-winning cow must spend five years on probation and perform 100 hours of community service.

 

The Associated Press reported 20-year-old Graysen Randy Anderson, of Somerset, was sentenced Tuesday. Anderson had pleaded guilty to felony agricultural vandalism and other charges in September.

 

Anderson was also convicted of five other vandalism-related crimes involving a vacant house fire and vehicles damaged by shooting

 

Police said Anderson and two other men killed the prize-winning cow overnightJune 25-26, 2010. Anderson and the others butchered the Angus cross-breeding cow in a field at Wheeler Show Cattle in Somerset Township and were slow-cooking the beef when troopers arrived at a home to question the men.
