Man To Be Charged In Accident That Killed Four

PORTAGE, Pa. —

State police said charges will be filed in a crash that killed four people in Cambria County earlier this month.

According to state police in Ebensburg, 34-year-old James Gaunt of Portage will be charged with speeding, driving without insurance and a DUI. Gaunt was driving a pick-up truck that collided head-on with a car driven by Richard McKrush on Shady Spring Road in Portage Township.

McKrush and three of his passengers died in the crash. One passenger survived, but was still in the hospital Saturday. Two passengers in Gaunt's car also survived. According to police, they have been released from the hospital.

Police said if McKrush had survived, McKrush would be facing homicide by vehicle charges.
