JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

A man remains in serious condition after he was shot in the chest Sunday night, and police are still searching for the gunman.

The shooting happened just after 10 p.m. on Ash Street. Police said the victim and gunman began arguing, then the gunman fired multiple shots at the victim, striking the victim once in the chest.

Johnstown Police Chief Craig Foust said investigators aren't sure what started the argument, but there is nothing to indicate that any illegal activities were occurring before the shooting.

The gunman fled after the shooting and his whereabouts remained unknown as of Monday afternoon.

Police did not release the name of the victim but said he is in the hospital in serious condition and had surgery Sunday night.

Anyone with information is asked to call Johnstown police at 800-281-1680.
