Marines Return Home

By Rich Wisniewski

EBENSBURG, Pa —

There were tears, hugs and plenty of kisses to go around when these 14 Marines, who left in February, returned six months later, unharmed.

"Just greatful for all of them to be home," said Mary Lou Kaminsky, one of the parents of the Marines.

The Marines were serving in Afghanistan. It was a long eight months for both them and their families but now that they're home, they're taking it all in.

Michael Kaminsky:"The air smells good here, theres grass; everythings brighter here," said Michael Kaminsky, one of the fourteen Marines.

Other Marines like Derek Goss was greeted by friends, family, memorabilia, and his wife who he wed just days before leaving.

"Just the chance to begin our life together is going to be amazing," said Cristin Goss, Derek's wife.

But there is nothing more valuable then the bond between a man and his dog.

"Waking up like everyday in Afghanistan, I thought about coming home and just picturing my dog running towards me and thats just what he did," said Goss.

Goss's dog Trigger, was perhaps the most excited to see him.

"Trigger missed him so much, every night he slept beside me in Derek's spot," said Cristin Goss.

They served their country proudly, and now that the nightmare of war is over the men are now going to enjoy the little things that were once only a thought.

"I'm going to sheets; then drink some beer," joked Goss.
