Missing Sykesville Woman Reportedly Seen In Alabama

An Alabama man reported to police he recognized a local woman missing for more than 18 months.

Joey Lynn Offutt disappeared sometime around July 12, 2007, when fire destroyed her home in Sykesville.

During the investigation, the body of Offutt’s infant son was found inside the house and her car was later found in State College.

Offutt’s family had given up hope that she was alive, but an Alabama man said he met Offutt at a shopping center and had a conversation with her.

He said he recognized Offutt after watching the story of her disappearance earlier this month on "America’s Most Wanted."

“He did have a conversation with her and that conversation is what really made things stick out in his mind, so he could remember her when he saw the program,” said Jonathan Green of the Decatur Police Department.
