Missing Teen Found in Illinois

By Rich Wisniewski

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa —

Fourteen year old Karley Bletz went missing last Tuesday, August 28th and after a week full of posters being made and facebook postings sent out, Karley was found in a small town in Illinois.

"I'm glad she's safe...I just can't wait to see her," said Karley's mom Jaime over the phone Wednesday evening.

Jaime explains that the last week has been nothing but exhausting and stressful, she says she has sat awake many nights wondering how her teenage daughter was doing, and where she was.

Where she was, was a place estimated to be about 10 hours from her home in Punxsutawney in Mount Morris, Illinois.

Karley was staying in a temporary foster care. Her mom says she placed her there as a way of protecting her from 38 year old Donald Gutherie from Jersey Shore, Pa. However, Karley ran away from the home and ran away with Gutherie who is a registered sex offender.

Gutherie had been talking to Karley for a while, according to her mom, he was even sending her sexual text messages. Gutherie was charged with a number of felonies including unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault and even child pornography. Recently he was connected to a bank robbery in Hughesville, Pennsylvania.

Gutherie was spotted walking down the street in Mount Morris, Wendesday afternoon. Police stopped him and asked him questions, he gave a fake name and started walking. After a investigation, police discovered it was Gutherie and he was arrested and taken into custody.

As for Bletz, her mom has spoken to her over the phone and she tells six news that she is doing ok, just a little shaken up. Soon, she will be transported back to Pennsylvania where she will be reunited with her mom.

Jaime Bletz had this to say to the public:

"I just want to say thank you, I thank everybody that looked and searched and all the flyers that they've made. Just everything. Everything that they've done. I dont know how to repay them, I dont know how to repay them."
