More Charges Filed Against Johnstown Telemarketer

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. —

According to Johnstown police, Charwan Wood admitted to them that he pocketed several credit card numbers from his job as a telemarketer over the last few months. Police said people who called in to make phone orders to BarettaUSA need to be very concerned about the risk of identity theft.

WJAC has learned that Wood, who also goes by Neil, is a former Penn State football player. He joined the team in 1998 but after an arrest, he transferred to IUP.

Wood is accused of taking people's credit card numbers while he worked at the call center and then using them to buy clothes, food and alcohol for himself. The items were often delivered to his home on Adams Street, police said. Some of the orders were made online, others were made locally like at Perfection Beverage on Ash Street in Johnstown.

Wood is facing numerous charges including identity theft, fraud and receiving stolen property. Police said more charges are expected.
