As efforts continue to plan and develop a national memorial at the Flight 93 crash site, a Somerset County coal company has stepped forward to help advance that project.

PBS Coals, a Somerset County mining company, announced today it's donating land in the core area of the Flight 93 crash to the conservation fund. It's to ensure that the land is permanently protected.

Calling it a "gift to the nation", Congressman John Murtha, victims family members and other people gathered at the Windber Coal Heritage Center for the announcement. The donation includes 29 acres of land, which includes an area where Flight 93 crashed. PBS Coals and the Conservation Fund have also reached an agreement on other properties adjacent to the crash site. On behalf of the National Parks Service, the conservation fund has been working over the past two years to preserve Flight 93 lands.
