Channel 6 spoke to Congressman John Murtha Wednesday about Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and his announcementhes not going to step down from his post. Murtha says it doesnt surprise him Rumsfeld won't budge, but Murtha says it needs to happen if Americans want the war in Iraq to end.
Murtha tells Channel 6 he speaks regularly to high ranking military and Pentagon officials who tell him they arent happy with troop numbers, meaning they need more to get the job done. They tell Murtha they need more equipment and they say something needs to change within the Bush Administration before more lives are lost in this War on Terror.
Congressman Murtha says, The high ranking military official people are very unhappy with the Secretarys management style, but also that its not going well. He doesnt listen to them. He went in with inadequate forces and he has no exit strategy.
There was even more of a Bush Administration shake up as White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan resigned Wednesday. When Channel 6 asked Murtha if he knew why, the Congressman said, in his opinion, McClellan mustve gotten tired of having to stretch the truth and cover for the Bush Administration.
