Murtha's Words Stirring A Nation

Cambria County —

The phones have been ringing off the hook at Congressman Murtha's office. Some callers are putting in their vote for Murtha to run for president, others are not as thrilled with his public attack of the war on terror. But one thing is for sure, people are talking.

"Get them out of there. They should have got them out of there a long time ago because everyday one of them is getting killed," says Sandy Kelege of DuBois.

Murtha's comments are not only shaking up the public, on capital hill, officials are scattering to pick a stance on this increasingly unpopular war.

"Let me tell you something, by next year they will find out the support from the public is overwhelming. The calls we're getting are three and four to one in favor of my position," Murtha tells Channel 6 News.

We also spoke with an Altoona war veteran who agrees, it's time for the troops to come home.

"It is time for us to pull out and let the Iraqi country grow on their own to fight for their own independence," says Stanley Synder.
