HARRISBURG, Pa. —
If you don't play the Pennsylvania Lottery, the British firm that is poised to take over the $3.5 billion system is looking for you.
Camelot Global Services officials told senators at Monday's Finance Committee hearing that the key to expanding lottery profits will be to win over people who never played, play infrequently or stopped playing.
Pennsylvania would join Illinois and Indiana in privatizing lottery management. Camelot won a 20- to 30-year contract three days ago from Gov. Tom Corbett's administration.
Camelot managing director Alex Kovach says the firm has done research that suggests there are many more potential Pennsylvania Lottery players. Camelot also plans to oversee a substantial expansion of lottery gambling that it says would help it reach more players.
A court challenge to the deal is pending.
