New Bypass Cuts Down On Traffic In Johnsonburg

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. —

After years of work, the Johnsonburg bypass is open. The roadway opened on Sept. 21.

The $30 million project took several years to complete.

Over the years, business owners have expressed concern about the project.

They admit, the new roadway has eliminated truck traffic through the downtown area.

Many had worried that elimating traffic downtown would eventually cause stores to shut down.

On Wednesday, business owners said it's too early to see the effects of the new roadway.

They said local residents have always supported Johnsonburg businesses.

Business owners added that the new bypass should cut down travel time for motorists along Route 219.
