New Carpatho-Russian Orthodox bishop ordained in Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

Hundreds of people packed the Christ The Savior Cathedral in Johnstown on Tuesday to witness the ordination and installation of a new bishop.

The American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese, which is headquartered in Johnstown, ordained Bishop Gregory Tatsis.

Tatsis is the fifth bishop of the diocese and replaces Rev. Metropolitan Nicholas R. Smisko, who died last year.

According to a news release, Tatsis will oversee 81 parishes in 13 states and Canada.
