JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —

Greater Johnstown High School's Trojan Stadium now has a new athletic field, and on Thursday, the turf was dedicated.

School officials announced plans for the new surface in March and construction crews worked quickly to get it done. They called the quality incredible.

Superintendent Gerald Zahorchak said, "It's extraordinary in quality and built to endure ... constant daily activity and that's what makes it a  unique surface is that fact that you can be on it all day, everyday regardless of the conditions you get a lot of play out of this."

The turf dedication is in advance of Friday's Ken Lantzy Finest 40 game.

The track around the field still has to be painted, and officials said that is expected to happen sometime next week.
