New industrial center in Windber

Former plant to become Industrial Center


Fast Freight Expeditors in Windber is moving into a new center and encouraging others to start a small business to help the local economy.

Fast Freight Expeditors CEO Jeff Alesantrinotells 6 Newshe decided to start his own business six years ago.

"My focus was to start a trucking company in a local area because I saw a need that other carriers in this area couldn't provide," said Alesantrino.

The serviceAlesantrino was providing grew,and he was able to expand with the help of friends.

"Dwaine and Norma Mowery.As well as my wife. Recognize that there's not a lot of space to move my business into."

That was until they saw the former Thiele Manufacturing Plant in 2010.

"The site had a lot of potential, but that site also needed a lot of work," said Alesantrino.

Even though it has been a work in progress, Alesantrino and the Mowerysalso knew that what they aredoing will help the local economy.

"We set up the Mowery Industrial Center so we could foster growth in small businesses and bring those small businesses in, even the ultra-small businesses," said Alesantrino. "Wecan take machining, coders, any type of industrial manufacturing, or processing."
