New Stores Open

A Shopper's Dream Come True

Cambria County —

Two new stores open for business in Richland Township. For some, it's a shoppers dream come true; however, others are wondering about the impact they'll have on the local economy. The Tractor Supply Company near Johnstown's Galleria Mall and Ross' Dress for Less in the new Richland Town Centre held grand openings Saturday. But with the existing Galleria stores and new Town Centre stores, some just don't think both can survive. Hooversville's Diana Lawrence says "everything will do well in this complex (Richland Town Centre), but I'm not sure about the mall." New Florence's Larry Bloom says "I don't think the economy can support all the stores that are coming. In the past, two malls didn't work." As for the other Richland Town Centre stores, township officials say they should all be opened by mid October.
