Nurses Expected To Return To Work Tomorrow

Mount Nittany Medical Center

Striking nurses and other workers remain on the picket line at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. While it has forced the Medical Center to cut back services, doctors and others are still working as the Mount Nittany Medical Center is also making budget changes.

The strikers, which consist of close to 450 unionized nurses and technical staff, know the work stoppage is hurting the Mount Nittany Medical Center. On Monday, besides emergency cases, about 40 patients at the hospital usually say there is well over three times that amount. The strike has stayed peaceful. Some temporary employees are on the job while other contingency plans remain on hold. The workers plan to be back on the job this Wednesday.
