Officials Discuss Progress At East Branch Dam

JONES TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

Army Corps of Engineers officials met with residents Wednesday to discuss a dam repair project in Elk County.

That meeting was held in the Johnsonburg High School auditorium.

Water levels were lowered at the East Branch Dam three years ago after seepage was discovered.

Crews have been working on a solution ever since. They are now drilling into the dam to examine the soil, officials said.

They stressed that there is no danger to those living downstream from the reservoir.

Officials added that they're hoping to finish work at the dam by 2017.

That's bad news from those along the lake, trying to sell their homes.

One man told WJAC-TV he has lowered the asking price of his house by more than $120,000.
