ALTOONA, Pa. —

A piece of history traveled through the area on Monday, traveling along the Pennsylvania Railroad.

It’s known as "Engine 765," a steam locomotive that is said to be one of the largest operating east of the Mississippi River.

It weighs 404 tons and is over 100 feet long.

It traveled through the Horseshoe Curve in Blair County.

It's on its way to Harrisburg from Indiana to celebrate Norfolk Southern's anniversary.

People from multiple states showed up at the curve to see the locomotive.

“This is history and it is something that my father and my grandfather worked on every day,” said Thomas E. Miller of the Ft. Wayne Railroad Historical Society.  “It’s not every day that you see a working steam engine of this type.”

The train will roll thru again on August 20th on its way home.
