One Dead; Dozens Injured In Interstate 80 Crash

 

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

One person is dead and dozens were injured in an accident Wednesday on Interstate 80.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of the interstate in Clearfield County.

Fifty vehicles were involved in the accident and demolished tractor-trailers blocked the roadway.

An Illinois man died in the accident.

More than 25 others were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Clearfield Hospital set up a mass casualty unit to deal with the accident.

Interstate 80 was closed into Wednesday evening.

The roadway reopened around 8 p.m.

Emergency officials said it will take some time to clean up the demolished tractor-trailers.
