One Person Killed In Tractor-Trailer Accident

HUNTINGDON COUNTY —

Authorities are still investigating a fatal accident which closed down a major highway this morning.

One person was killed when the semi-truck he was driving veered off the road and exploded on Route 22 near the Blair-Huntingdon County line.

State police said the truck was heading westbound around 8 a.m. when it veered into a small wooded area and burst into flames.

Authorities believe the truck was hauling some type of hazardous material because the vehicle was emitting a gas which fueled the fire. That substance has not been identified at this time.

Neither the identity of the driver nor the name of the trucking company he worked for has been released.

Authorities expect the road to remain closed from Yellow Springs to Water Street for several more hours.
