CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. —

Adams Township police have joined efforts with several other police departments in Cambria County to solve a recent rash of home break-ins. Two people were arrested early Thursday morning who police said played a part in at least two of the burglaries.

"This is turning out to be a very large investigation," said Adams Township Police Chief Kirk Moss. "I believe it's going to go south central here in the county."

Police said the investigation is far from over. They're still hunting the culprits down and they're learning of more break-ins every day.

"Economic times are tough and things are getting bad. This is all drug-related and we have a serious epidemic here," said Moss. "We have to stay on it, pay attention and look out for each other."

As police continue to sort out the recent rash of burglaries they've been talking with other police departments in Cambria County and quickly discovering the culprits may be hitting other areas.

"We got our heads together and we jumped on this," said Moss. "We compared information; they acted immediately and served their search warrant. There are multiple arrests going to come out of this."

Lawrence Morrison and Lacy Altschuh were arrested early Thursday morning.

Police said Morrison is accused of breaking into a Lower Yoder Township house in October while the homeowner was inside sleeping.

Police said Altschuh ratted Morrison out when they questioned her about breaking into a home in Southfork. Police said she played a part in stealing jewelry from the home, which police said Morrison then sold to a jeweler.

But 6 News came across a twist in the story when one of its own photographer's homes was burglarized Tuesday.

That photographer went to record Morrison's arraignment Thursday morning and that's when police said he admitted to the crime. He also apologized, which was caught on camera.

"I'm sorry, sir. I mean it from the bottom of my heart," said Morrison. "I'm sorry. Happy holidays. Please find it in your heart to forgive me, man."

Police said Morrison and Altschuh are not the only suspects in the recent rash of break-ins.

"They're going to need to come forth and cooperate because we're not going to stop until this is done," said Moss.

Police said Morrison is also accused of taking part in a similar burglary ring last year for which he's facing several charges and is still awaiting trial.

It's somewhat of a happy ending for the 6 News photographer. It appears his insurance agency will be able to reimburse him for most of the items that were stolen.
