Opposition To Mining Project

Some residents of Blacklick Township Cambria County say they fear their home water supplies as well as a nearby stream could be damaged by plans to expand an underground mining project. Officials from the State Department of Environmental Protection were taking public comment last night about Rosebud Mining Company's proposal to expand its twin rocks mining project. Those on hand expressed concerns about water contamination as well as possible mine subsidence near their homes. The DEP expects to reach a decision on rosebud's application by summer.
