CLEARFIELD COUNTY / JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. —

A program that helps victims of domestic violence got an anonymous donation of $10,000 this week to help its goal of moving into a new shelter.

Cross Roads Program director Susan McLaughlin said the organization served more than 1,400 domestic violence victims in Clearfield and Jefferson counties last year, which is four or five each day.

Yet, the shelter is operating out of temporary shelter in DuBois that leaves much to be desired and her program is trying to raise money for a new facility.

McLaughlin said, "We're not really particular about where. We just know there are certain zoning requirements and one of those requirements is that we have to be 10,000 square foot of property."

The program's old shelter shut its doors two years ago. McLaughlin said she would like to new shelter to be in or at least close to DuBois.
