Organizations Honor Local Veterans

Veterans Honored Across Cambria, Blair and Bedford Counties

PATTON, Pa. —

Giving back to local veterans is the goal of a new program, created in part, by Home Nursing Agency and Hospice.

On Thursday, a Cambria County veteran of the Korean War was honored.

Robert Morrison's family members said they know about the Korean War's reputation as America's forgotten war.

But they added this program is evidence that the nation is starting to commemorate the men and women who served in Korea.

Members of a local honor guard saluted Robert Morrison on his front porch in Patton.

Morrison suffers from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder and doesn't have kidneys. He is currently using hospice.

This program, called "We Honor Veterans," was put together by Home Nursing Agency, the V.A. and Hospice.

They're making stops across Cambria, Blair and Bedford counties.

Organizers say this is an important month for this program, since all America's veterans will be honored later this month on Veterans Day.
