Following an eight-year campaign run, Pennsylvania Lottery spokeswoman Allison Roberts told 6News that March 1 will be Gus the Groundhog’s last day.
Data gathered by the Pennsylvania Lottery said that Gus had achieved his goal for marketing instant games as the second-most popular groundhog in Pennsylvania.
The average production cost for each television commercial featuring the animatronic robot cost between $300,000 and $400,000.
The announcement was made during an appropriation hearing in Harrisburg earlier today.
