Panera Bread Opens In Cambria County

People lined up on Tuesday to get a taste of Cambria County's first Panera Bread bakery and cafe.

Even though the restaurant opened on the heels of Monday's Wall Street plunge, the bakery pulled in a large crowd.

Before the doors opened at 6:30 a.m., a long line wrapped around the building. By lunch, the restaurant was still very busy.

Managers at the Richland Township bakery said they were taking company orders last week even before they opened.

And, while many people are pinching pennies, they were still enjoying the newest place to eat out, at least for a day.

"You've got to treat yourself every once in a while," said Kristen Barkely of Windber.
