Partial Roof Collapses At Somerset County Dairy Farm

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. —

S and M Saylor Farm in Somerset County had a partial barn roof collapse on Thursday trapping dairy cows inside.

Owner Sue Saylor said the roof collapsed 5 minutes before they were heading inside to start milk production.

They had to euthanize one cow, many were hurt and financial damages haven't been assessed.

Saylor said she just hopes no cows get sick because of the opening in the side of the barn, because it could be devastating to their 150-year-old farm.

Farm owners blame the heavy snow and fluctuating temperatures for the collapse. Saylor Farms aren't the only ones in the county having problems. Volunteers on scene said this is the 11th or 12th barn collapse this past week.
