Penn State DuBois offers new, free program for veterans

By Brittany Boyer

DuBois, Pa. —

Penn State DuBois may be one of the smaller Penn State University branch campuses, but the campus is still making great strides to helping the community.

Faculty members tell 6 News there are about 800 students this semester and at least 50 of them are veterans.

In an effort to help veterans adapt from military life to life as a college student the campus is offering a new and free program.

Now that October has started, the campus is offering the new program, From Military to College: A Transition to campus life.

Faculty members tell 6 News the program is funded by Community Connections of Clearfield and Jefferson Counties.

Organizers said the program is free and open to any veteran who is interested in attending college.

Faculty members said the program will help to prepare those with a service background for life in the classroom.  They said it will offer assistance in transitioning from service to life back home as well.

Veterans interested in attending the program can choose from several dates and times.

The program will be offered from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on October 1, 3 and 5.

It will also be offered from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. on October 15, 17 and 18.

Classes will be held in room 209 of the DEF Building at Penn State.
