Penn State Students Fear Assault

Related

There's been a rash of sexual assaults in State College over recent months. Students are now concerned enough to ask the state college police for help.

There have been 26 sexual assaults and 17 rapes between January and October of this year, and even with the installation of downtown camera's, a campus escort service to get students home safely and additional lighting on campus, some Penn State students say there's still more to be done.

Downtown State College is a hub of activity on the weekends and police are on constant patrol of the streets. But stranger and acquaintance rapes that have received widespread attention on top of the death of Penn State student Peter Seranno have students and the community concerned. Students and faculty alike will be expressing their concerns at a meeting this evening.
